Senior Research Associate - The Rhode Island Education Research Collaborative

The Rhode Island Education Research Collaborative brings together local education leaders and researchers to solve pressing educational challenges, with a specific focus on student engagement and teacher learning. Drawing on the complementary expertise and earned trust of partners, the Collaborative seeks to improve Rhode Island student and school experiences through stronger use of data and evidence while producing research that has impact on a national scale.

As part of the work of the Collaborative, we are leading efforts on a State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) grant focused on equity in education. This work is in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Education and Data Spark. This project intends to reduce disparities in outcomes across student groups by broadening access among local school and district leaders to both traditional and more novel types of school improvement data and supporting evidence-based solutions to focused, data-driven challenges. The work will enhance the capability of Rhode Island’s existing SLDS to share data directly with local administrators and generate knowledge around equity-focused interventions by encouraging local experimentation, idea-sharing, and rigorous evaluation.

The Senior Research Associate is primarily responsible for leading the research efforts of the SLDS project with the opportunity to contribute to other research projects conducted in partnership with local agencies. The Senior Research Associate will develop and execute sophisticated analytical approaches to identifying trends across datasets, lead equity profile development, design analysis and evaluations, and publish research findings. The senior research associate will work with the SLDS team at Annenberg as well as project partners at the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and Data Spark. The senior research associate must have a demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
