Hundreds of high schoolers from Rhode Island visited Brown University on Thursday.
Many of those students visiting the campus were coming from some of the state’s poorest communities.
The trip is part of a program called College Day at Brown.
Students from Providence, Pawtucket and Central Falls were invited to see how they can learn and live on campus.
“I myself was a first-generation student and my vision of college was what I saw on TV or in the movies growing up and I never really saw myself fitting into that life so are we hope that by offering them this experience it’ll help them feel welcome that they belong on College campuses,” said Soljane Martinez.
