Choice: CEO Leadership Academy
Four students share why they "chose" CEO Leadership Academy
CEO Leadership Academy is a Christian high school of choice in Milwaukee, WS. In the fall of 2003, 8 local pastors, along with Dr. Howard Fuller, hired a school planner to develop a high school that "combines high academic standards, high character expectations, and uncompromising Christian values" for high school students. CEO Leadership Academy opened its doors to freshman and sophomore students in September 2004; the school will graduate its first group of seniors in June 2007. With a total enrollment of 160 students, the Academy maintains an adult/student ratio of 1 to 12. The vision of the school is to produce student leaders through community-focused education that supports academic mastery and Christian values. This is accomplished by individual assessment of all entering students that serve as a guide for a "Learner to Leader" blueprint created for each student that involves the collaboration of student, caregiver, staff, and a school administrator.
Milwaukee has offered schools of choice for low-income families since 1990. CEO Leadership Academy students discuss their choice to leave "regular" public schools for the small Christian high school. Visit the school's Web site at http://ceoleadershipacd.org
