In partnership with the Minneapolis Public Schools and the Perpich Center for Arts Education, Arts for Academic Achievement (AAA) supported over 40 schools working to improve student achievement in and through the arts. AAA changed teacher practice by creating partnerships between schools, teachers, artists, and arts organizations through "job embedded staff development." More effective teaching resulted in increased student achievement. The work of the Challenge has become sustained--principals have allocated time and resources to arts integration, the district now uses the arts as a primary strategy of school reform, and area universities are now beginning to offer courses in arts integrative education. AAA created communities of learning whose influence and work will continue through the Minneapolis Public Schools and the Perpich Center for Arts Education. RESOURCES
