HOW WERE THE TOOLS SELECTED?
Staff at the Annenberg Institute have searched out and reviewed hundreds of tools and chosen the best ones to give those of you on the front lines of school-improvement planning a one-stop accountability center for data tools.

Tools for this site were carefully screened and were chosen based upon the following criteria:

• The instrument is easy to administer and understand.
• The instrument addresses common school-improvement concerns.
• The instrument has been used or is being used by practitioners in the field.
• The instrument is an actual tool – not just a description or a suggestion.

A few items that the screening team could not categorize as tools, but which were too valuable to leave out, are included with the tools and are labeled "Resource" in the tool description.
